Did this scare the shit out of anyone else as a kid, but was somehow still awesome?

I’m infinitely glad my parents, unlike others, allowed me to watch this without freaking out over religious nonsense. When I get older, my children are going to watch this and ‘The Rites of Spring’ (the one with the dinosaurs,) and decide for themselves what they believe in.
